At Duke Petrographic, we provide petrographic and archaeological pottery analysis for a range of researchers and professionals. Petrographic analysis is a powerful technique for assessing provenance (where pots come from and how they are exchanged), composition (the potting “recipe”), and manufacture (how potters make pots), and can address myriad research goals. We tailor our approach to the needs of each project/researcher/client and provide consultation on how to optimize petrographic and pottery analysis data.
